It's that time of the year we all crave - the days are longer, nights are warmer and we pass our time soaking up that delicious sun. But just like everything that is good for us, often that Summer sun can cause havoc on our hair.
This is how we love to care for our hair that is drying out from too much sun, salt and sand this Summer.
Keep Strong & Protect
Our number one rule is to ALWAYS protect your strands. Regardless of whether your hair is coloured or untouched, it is important to take into consideration how harsh the UV rays are from the Australian sun and what damage it can cause to our hair. Just like our skin, it is important to shield your hair from the sun to keep it lustrous and hydrated.
We all take plenty of measures to protect our skin from the sun so why is it that we forget about our hair? Just like our skin, exposure to the sun, salt and chlorinated water during summer can causing ageing and drying out of the hair - not ideal if you ask us!
Our Hot Tip: If you have not yet graced your hair by the luxury that is Christophe Robin hair care, a great place to start would be adding the cult-product, Moisturising Hair Oil with Lavender to your beach bag. This ultra-nourishing, protective hair oil contains SPF 6 to protect hair from sun damage leaving hair visibly smoother and healthier.
Apply before sun exposure (which oxidizes colour), on the beach or by the pool (chlorine turns coloured hair green and salt dries it out) to keep your hair in it's best condition through the warmer months.
Avoid Heat Styling
We don't know about you, but for us, there is nothing worse than the thought of spending lengthy amounts of time blow-drying your hair on a hot and humid night after spending the day at the beach or in the sun. We get it though..you still want to look hot and beach swept while sipping cocktails through the night. To get the ultimate, lived in #summerhair look, invest in one of our favourite summer hair products, Kerastase Huile Sirene. This leave-in spray is the perfect solution for the sexy day-to-night summer look. It transforms crunchy, salt-water soaked hair to luminous beach waves that are soft to touch.
Wanting more of the textured sultry look? Combine Davines Oi Milk with R+Co Rockaway Salt Spray. Twist in to 8-12 sections, and let hair dry naturally. Why dry, shake the hair out and comb through with fingers to achieve beach swept hair.
Give Your Hair Some Extra Nourishment
Our hair definitely goes through a lot more stress through Summer - we're in and out of the water, soaking up the gorgeous sun and guilty of chucking it up in a messy bun more often than not just to keep cool. So if you aren't incorporating a hair mask into your routine already, let us tell your our favourite hair masks that will promise to leave your much loved tresses soft and hydrated.
Davines Su Hair Mask: Formulated with Jojoba, Almond and Rice Bran Oils, Su Hair Mask is a moisturising and regenerating mask for hair damaged by the sun, chlorine and salt. It replaces softness, moisture and shine even to the most driest and dull hair with anti-oxidant action.
Hot Tip: Apply the Mask to your hair right after your take your last dip in the ocean, leave in for as long as you please and rinse out when you get home.
Kerastase Blonde Absolu Maque Ultra-Violet: This one is for you blondies! For any beauties out there that have noticed your beautiful blonde turn to brassy and unwanted yellowness through Summer, you need Kerastase's Masque Ultra Violet - an anti-brass blonde perfecting purple hair mask, that combines the power of neutralisation with an ultra caring treatment. Ideal for lightened, bleached or highlighted cool blonde hair.
